Teaching kids to cook at early ages inspires healthy eating habits for life.

Native Sun Natural Foods Market will be hosting a special cooking class geared specifically to children. Dawn Hutchins, founder of Florida Coastal Cooking and Wellness, will be hosting the class, along with her daughter Gabby. The Kids Cooking Class is designed to engage children in the process of creating their own meals and to get kids excited about choosing healthy options. Participants will be learning how to make Veggie Sushi Rolls with Yummy Hummus, in a hands-on hour long class.

Dawn Hutchins and her eight year old daughter Gabby will be stepping the kids through the recipes, as well as teaching them about why we want to eat healthy foods. Hutchins has found that one of the benefits of gathering kids together to learn about healthy foods, and make a recipe as a group, is that they will actually eat it! According to Hutchins, “Even the self-proclaimed veggie haters were eating their veggies. Finally, a way to use peer pressure as a force for good!”

The class is designed for children ages 5 and up and each child must be accompanied by an adult. Children and adults will enjoy refreshments, take-home recipes, and a chance to win one of Dawn Hutchins' cookbooks.

The Kids Cooking Class event is one of many events being held at Native Sun Natural Foods Market locations every month.
