Riverside Avondale Preservation announces new senior manager for RAM

Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) announces the selection of John Silveira as the new Riverside Arts Market (RAM) Senior Manager. This position is formerly titled the RAM Director, and John will replace outgoing RAM Director Krysten Bennett.

John, a U.S. Navy veteran, recently returned to Florida with his family. After his service, he began his twenty-three year nonprofit career with the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association (PCFMA). His passion for healthy communities, local businesses, and the agricultural arts led to the creation of the largest Market Association in the country. John started as a market manager and moved up the ladder, ending his career with PCFMA as their Executive Director. The PCFMA currently manages over sixty farmers’ markets in the San Francisco Bay Area.

John notes as one of the highlights of his time with PCFMA was his role in helping create the first hospital-based farmers' market in the Bay Area with healthcare organization Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser now sponsors over fifty markets throughout the country and continues to educate communities about healthy eating.

John's past volunteer service includes: President, California Federation of Certified Farmers' Markets, President, Pleasanton Downtown Association, Member, Brentwood Neighborhood Advisory Committee, Chaired State of California's Direct Marketing Task Force and Co-Chair State of California's Department of Agriculture's Technical Planning Committee.

”I’m thrilled and honored to be part of such a premier market in Florida. I look forward to serving the community and adding to the Riverside Arts Market’s customer experience,” says Silveira. Of the selection of Silveira to the position, outgoing RAM Director Bennett shared “John’s extensive professional experience in market management will be a tremendous asset to the market. I am looking forward to working with him through the transition and to following RAM’s development under his leadership.” RAP Executive Director Adrienne Burke said, “We are excited to have John join the team. With his extensive experience and his enthusiasm for markets, we know he will bring great things to RAM.”

Please extend a warm welcome to John the next time you visit RAM #UnderTheBridge!
