Forking Amazing Restaurants launches newest venture, Cowford Chophouse

Jacques Klempf, owner of the Cowford Chophouse, announced October 26, 2017 as the restaurant’s opening date. Reservations can be made at and through OpenTable.

“When I purchased this building in 2014, I had a vision for a restaurant that would reflect Northeast Florida’s history, cuisine and culture. I am thrilled to share that our doors will officially open October 26,” said Klempf. “On behalf of the entire Cowford Chophouse team, I’d like to thank the Jacksonville community for its tremendous support as we’ve worked to restore this building and prepare it for a new chapter in Downtown’s history.”

The Cowford Chophouse’s expertly crafted menu features classic chophouse fare with coastal and Southern influences. Chef Ian Lynch, Executive Chef of the Cowford Chophouse, created menus featuring prime steaks, fresh-from-the-dock seafood and made-from-scratch sides. The menu will be updated regularly to highlight seasonal ingredients and new recipes.

The Cowford Chophouse building dates back to 1902 and was designed in the Renaissance Revival style. Many details — including the historic arched windows, exterior bricks, metal cornice and 300-year-old heart of pine lumber used throughout the restaurant — were restored to their original glory as part of an extensive two-year renovation.

Design Cooperative (DCOOP) served as the lead architect and designer for the Cowford Chophouse. Danis Construction served as the contractor.
