Franciacorta is an Italian DOCG classification for traditional method sparkling wine—it is Italy's answer to the Champagne region in France. Franciacorta is so popular in Italy that only a tiny amount leaves the country for export making it difficult to find in the U.S.
Prosecco sales in the U.S. increased by 35% between 2010 and 2013; however, this resulted in a flood of low-quality Prosecco into the U.S. Marco is excited to restore the good name of Prosecco as he samples his small production DOCG Prosecco.
