Chinese New Year at Hawkers
This year’s annual Chinese New Year celebration kicks off on February 16 and involves traditional dancing, firecrackers, age-old dishes and more. If you're hip to Chinese culture, you know that 2018 is the year of the dog!
In Chinese culture, kids receive red envelopes stuffed with ‘lucky money’ and positive wishes on New Year’s Day from their parents. This is what locals can expect at Hawkers!
Each Hawkers' location will have a similar performance and giveaways, yet the timing is a little different for each.
The Chinese New Year performance itself is a single lion/dragon with a kung fu demonstration. Guests will be given traditional red envelopes that they can use to tip performers.
5 POINTS, 1001 Park Street:
Performance is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Kam Lee TKA Taiji Kungfu Academy
NEPTUNE BEACH, 241 N. Atlantic Blvd.:

There’s more... giveaways will be handed out in traditional red envelopes, as well. Hundreds of red envelopes are each location. The majority of them will include fortune fish or a lucky coin bracelet that were handmade!
Some lucky guests will receive $5 Gift Cards or a FREE roti, wok-fired lettuce, dan-dan mian or edamame!
Lucky dishes traditionally include:
Noodles – happiness and longevity
Dumplings and spring rolls – wealth
Tangyuan (sweet rice balls) – family togetherness
Niangao (glutinous rice cake) – higher income or status
Tangerines and oranges – fullness and wealth
Fish – an increase in prosperity
