A Night at Roy's

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. will host “A Night at Roy’s” to benefit MBF Child Safety Matters™, a research–based, bullying and child abuse prevention education program. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Roy’s Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach.

“April is recognized as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and this annual event is important to continue the work of our foundation,” said Lynn Layton, executive director of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children. “We raise the funds needed to provide MBF Child Safety Matters™ to students throughout Florida. Ninety-five percent of abuse can be prevented simply through education.”

A Night at Roy’s, which has become one of Northeast Florida’s most widely attended charity events, will feature contemporary, Hawaiian-influenced, gourmet cuisine by world-renowned chef, Roy Yamaguchi. In addition to dinner, fine wines and tropical drinks provided by Southern Wine and Spirits will be available throughout the evening.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Colleen Orender from Nashville, Tennessee with special performances by Mack and Jack Hazel and Jack Rosa. Advance ticket purchase is recommended; tickets are available for $100 per person by visiting www.anightatroys.com.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Call the Monique Burr Foundation at (904) 642-0210 for more information.

About the Monique Burr Foundation for Children

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc., started by Edward E. Burr, president and CEO of GreenPointe Holdings, is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide prevention education relevant to issues facing children today. MBF Child Safety MattersTM is a research-based, primary prevention education program, designed to educate and empower elementary students and all relevant adults with information and strategies to prevent bullying, cyberbullying, digital abuse and all types of child abuse and exploitation. The MBF Child Safety MattersTM curriculum is approved in 57 counties in Florida and these safety lessons have reached more than 1 million children. The foundation has trained more than 1,300 facilitators to implement the program. The program is made possible through donations, which is the foundation’s greatest need, so that every child in every public elementary school can receive this safety training.

MBF Child Safety MattersTM continues to expand statewide as a collaborative effort with the Florida Governor’s Office, the Florida Office of the Attorney General, the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of Children & Families.
