Native Sun Collects Donations for B.E.A.M. Event
Native Sun Natural Foods Market’s Jacksonville Beach store, located at 1585 3rd Street North, will be collecting donations for Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (B.E.A.M.) in support of their 23rd annual Back to School with B.E.A.M. event on August 6th, 2016. The event, to be held at 325 7th Ave N in Jacksonville Beach, provides children in need with supplies for the new school year. B.E.A.M. is currently seeking donations of new and gently used clothing as well as young adult books, school supplies, and new backpacks.
Native Sun’s Jacksonville Beach store will serve as a drop-off site for the Back to School Drive and will provide snacks to the children attending the event. In addition, Native Sun will donate vitamins, supplements, nutritional shakes, snack bars and other nutritious options to the drive to help kids get off to a healthy start.
Last year, the drive served over 1,000 local students in grades K-12. B.E.A.M.’s Executive Director, Susan King, knows that, “children can’t fit in, feel confident and achieve academic success without the proper tools, including nutrition.” As a local beaches business committed to providing the community with healthy options, Native Sun is partnering with B.E.A.M. to help ensure that kids in need are able to take home nutritious foods as they prepare to begin the new school year.
Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry helps low income families and individuals in the Jacksonville Beaches area through emergencies and guides them to self-sufficiency. Founded in 1985, the nonprofit’s services include rent and utility assistance, operating two food pantries and an organic garden. They also offer nutritional programs, assistance with food stamp and Medicaid applications, income tax filing help and sponsors the Back to School program.
Native Sun is Jacksonville’s own natural and organic grocer, having served the local community since 1996. The company operates three locations in Jacksonville, the original Native Sun store at 10000 San Jose Boulevard, their second store at 11030 Baymeadows Road, and their newest location at 1585 3rd Street North in Jacksonville Beach. All three Native Sun stores are open from 8am to 8pm Monday thru Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
