Generous Pours Expands Cocktail Initiative for Restaurants to Unite and Give Back to Jacksonville’s Charitable Causes.

Generous Pours, HOBNOB’s happy hour program designed to raise awareness and funds for local charities, announced they are expanding to restaurants citywide. The initiative plans to elevate partnerships between restaurants, and create consistent fundraising and networking opportunities for this philanthropic community and its nonprofits.

Generous Pours knows there is strength in numbers. Each 3-month campaign will be co-hosted by a small group of participating restaurants. This campaign Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails, TacoLu Baja Mexicana, The Candy Apple Cafe and Cocktails and Blue Bamboo will be hosting happy hour events alongside HOBNOB, a full-service restaurant located at Unity Plaza and founding restaurant of Generous Pours.

Generous Pours is an initiative supporting local non-profit organizations through happy hour events throughout Jacksonville. The program kicked off in October 2016 and has raised funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida, Berry Good Farms, Habijax, and Operation New Uniforms. Generous Pours motto is “You Drink. We Donate.”

“Jacksonville is the biggest small town. The spirit of camaraderie amongst our community and restaurants is so powerful. I think this works in our advantage," says Generous Pours Founder and HOBNOB co-owner, Ellen Cottrill.

Happy hours take place on the second and last Thursday of every month, and will rotate through the participating restaurants. Each restaurant will donate 10% of alcohol sales during their happy event, as well as a portion from a cocktail that will be specifically designated for the charity and available throughout the campaign.

Live for Today Foundation’s Founder and Vice President, Katie Pearsall, says she is grateful to be the first charity chosen for the new model.

"Live for Today Foundation is excited to expand our relationship with the community through the partnership with Generous Pours,” says Pearsall. “We couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to create awareness for our cause and garner support for inspiring young adult cancer patients and survivors to focus on living, not cancer.”

Live For Today Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Jacksonville, FL whose mission is to help young adults with cancer by providing dynamic opportunities, fostering community support, and promoting healthy living. The organization was co-founded by three young adults who each battled cancer. During their treatments, they gained a unique perspective on living each day to its fullest and were inspired to help others in similar situations.

HOBNOB is kicking off the first happy hour event on August 10 from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Come out for music, drinks specials and a free chef’s choice appetizer. HOBNOB’s specialty cocktail will the Healer, their most popular drink.

“It just seemed so appropriate to make that our specialty cocktail for Live for Today,” said Cottrill.

All you have to do is drink at any of these happy hours to raise funds for Jacksonville’s amazing nonprofits, and mingle with others in our community with a similar love for meeting new faces, enjoying craft cocktails and giving back!
