Local breweries seek changes to government restrictions and formulate plans to reopen safely.

Craft breweries play a significant role in local communities, adding economic, cultural and culinary benefits. As Covid-19 continues to wreck havoc with "business as usual," many breweries are on the verge of closing permanently. Shifting government mandates and restrictions have left craft beer makers and bars in a state of flux. After being allowed to open with limited capacity on June 5, the state then changed the regulation at the end June. Those establishments with more than 50% of sales deriving from alcohol were forced to stop selling beverages for on-site consumption, due to the state’s rising number of coronavirus cases. On a recent broadcast of First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross, Ben Davis, owner of Intuition Ale Works, talked about the recent request by the Florida Brewers Guild for the state to implement plans that allow breweries and bars to safely reopen.
