Maple Bourbon Sugar Cookies

The subtle flavor of maple adds a rich depth to the traditional sugar cookie, and the bourbon makes these perfect for an adult-only dessert.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 3 Dozen
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2-1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 cup bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons maple bourbon compound*
  • Raw sugar, to garnish

Instructions

Preheat oven to 325°. Cream the butter and sugar together for 5 minutes with a paddle. Scrape the bowl. While mixing on low add the honey and vanilla. Add the eggs one at a time and scrape the bowl after last egg is combined. Add dry ingredients and scrape the bowl again. Add the white chocolate chips and mix on low until combined. Slowly drizzle in the maple bourbon and fold in. Scoop into 1-ounce balls and place on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Lightly flatten the top, sprinkle with raw sugar and chill. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
 
*To make bourbon reduction, heat 1/2 cup bourbon in small saucepan until reduced by half. Sweeten with 1 teaspoon maple syrup.
