Cranberries are a member of the Vaccinium family of plants (think blueberry, lingonberry and huckleberry) and grow primarily as a vine or dwarf shrub in northern climates. Most are harvested using a wet pick method - the beds are flooded with water above the vines then a harvester goes through the beds to remove the fruit from the vines. Cranberries float in the water and are then pushed into a corner of the bed to be collected.
