Miya's Kitchen: Lemon and Oregano Chicken Notes
Growing up, my sister and I had a children’s manners book that we would make my mom read out loud to us over and over again. I vividly remember the colorfully illustrated photographs and the captivating (and now very obvious) pieces of advice that it shared. Say please, say thank you, don’t slurp your food, don’t be a terror of a party guest, etc. I recently came across a manners book for adults written by Jeremiah Tower, made with table manners and current technology in mind. So, wait, when can I photograph my food? It’s practical with a little bit of humor and it makes me so happily nostalgic. I say all of this because I enjoyed my new manners book over a perfectly plated (one-pan) braised chicken, and all was well in the world. I feel more behaved already.
This chicken is perfect for a large group of people because it is easy to cook and can be prepared ahead and reheated prior to a party. The crushed red pepper and the lemon give the chicken a nice zing and the crispy skin makes for a wonderful texture. I will be making this for the next potluck or dinner party (and I will come armed with my new etiquette and manners).
