native florida plants
Learn how to identify native wild edible plants.

Ever wonder what unknown delicacies might be growing in your own backyard? Meet at Camp Chowenwaw County Park’s Kiwita Nature Center on Saturday April 20 to join local landscape architect and Master Naturalist Amy Morie for an informative look at Florida’s many wild edible plants. The program will include classroom and field activities to introduce you to the many native plants that can make Florida plates taste great!

A Florida native who grew up camping, fishing and hiking throughout the state, Amy Morie, ASLA, discovered Landscape Architecture as the perfect intersection of her interests in art, nature, science and education. Through the profession she developed a passion for public space projects and working with local communities to plan and develop parks, trails and environmental education. Amy currently heads Mulberry Hill Studio and volunteers in the community with Florida Master Gardeners, Florida Master Naturalists, Florida Fish and Wildlife and Florida 4-H. Her interest in native edibles extends from the field to the kitchen to the classroom.

Nature Center exhibits are open 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that day.
